PHL Embassy in Brunei Celebrates Pasko sa Pasuguan 2018 with the Filipino Community

The Philippine Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan celebrated a year-end gathering with members of the Filipino Community dubbed as Pasko sa Pasuguan 2018 on 21 December 2018 at the Chancery.  The event was attended by more than three hundred (300) guests.

The highlights of the event were the featured contests for members of the Filipino Community: the “Recycled Parol” and the “Christmas Performance.”  The “Recycled Parol” encouraged the members of the Filipino Community to exhibit Filipino artistry and ingenuity by making a Christmas lantern using recycled materials The “Christmas Performance” imbibed the Christmas spirit through the participants’ renditions of Christmas Carols.

The Guardians Brotherhood Incorporated-The Original (TGBI-TO) bested the (10) other participants in the “Recycled Parol” while the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)- Brunei Chapter won the People’s Choice Award for Parol category voted clients of the Embassy.  The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) was declared the winner for the “Christmas Performance” among four (4) performance groups.

All the entries to the “Recycled Parol” were prominently displayed in the Embassy grounds during the event.  They added to the overall festive trimmings of the Chancery, which projected the Christmas atmosphere in the PHL.

In his message, Chargé d’ Affaires Pete Raymond V. Delfin, highlighted the various events and projects of the Embassy in the past year in strengthening Assistance to Nationals, as well as enhancing political, economic and cultural diplomacy with Brunei Darussalam. He also thanked the Filipino Community organizations for their continued support for the Embassy’s programs and activities.

After the event, the guests were treated to Philippine traditional dishes and delicacies such as pancit guisado, chicken adobo, lumpia sariwa, Jollibee chicken, puto and the all-time favorite Magnolia ice-cream, among others.

The attendees expressed their appreciation to the Embassy for the event which they claimed, reminded them of Christmas celebrations in their homes in the Philippines. END
