Around 80 consular officers and staff from 48 foreign missions in the Philippines attended the Briefing on Philippine Apostille and Civil Registry Records organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) in cooperation with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) held on 03 July 2019 at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini, DFA Building, Pasay City.
The event was conducted to inform the foreign missions about the security features of the apostille certificates and civil registry records being issued by the DFA and PSA, respectively, and to address the diplomatic corps’ concerns with respect to said documents.
In his opening remarks, Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Officer-in-Charge Atty. Brigido J. Dulay Jr., underscored the paramount importance to the DFA of preserving the integrity of public documents. He also encouraged the participants to work together to make the authentication of Philippine public documents more robust or even fraud-free.
After the presentations made by PSA Assistant National Statistician Officer-in-Charge Ronaldo C. Taghap, and DFA-OCA Authentication Division Acting Director Eric P. Valenzuela, OCA Assistant Secretary Neil Frank R. Ferrer joined the speakers and OIC Dulay in answering questions from the audience. —Source: DFA.GOV.PH
