The Philippines will continue to deploy workers to Hong Kong for now even as the special administrative region remains gripped by protests, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Wednesday.
Bello said the Department of Foreign Affairs is in a “better position” to determine when to raise the alert level, but advised Filipinos in Hong Kong to stay in their places of work and avoid loitering in the city.
“In the meantime okay pa naman, very stable ang situation, so continuous ang deployment pa rin,” Bello said in a news forum in Manila.
Hong Kong authorities arrested a Filipino who was reportedly just passing by a street where a protest action was taking place on Saturday.
He has been bailed out for HK$2,000.
