Sara teased openness about succeeding her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, in an interview with Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Friday (August 2).
The mayor did not outrightly reject the possibility of her running for president but said she needs God’s wisdom to decide.
“Everything will be easier if it’s the plan of God. I think siguro before I think about that, I should ask God first if this is for me,” she said in a mix of Bisaya and English.
“Siguro para hindi tayo magkamali, we need to pray for wisdom on how to go about it and how to decide,” Sara added.
Sara’s political party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), was a force to reckon with in the previous elections despite being a regional party.
HNP fielded a 13-member senatorial slate comprised of politikos from various political parties. Most of its candidates won.
Duterte also previously pointed to his daughter as the mastermind behind the ouster of Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez at the start of the 17th Congress last year.
Despite being touted as a kingmaker in the national political scene, Sara was humble about her influence, saying she just has a lot of friends.— Source: politics.com.ph
