

| Embassy Officials And Staff Celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri With Filipino Inmates At The Jerudong Prison |

Officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy conducted their annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri visit to Filipino inmates detained at the Jerudong Prison on 22 September 2010. The annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri prison visit is part of the Embassy's sustained efforts to demonstrate its deep concern and support for Filipino detainees. Minister and Consul Celeste Vinzon Balatbat, Chargé d' Affaires, a.i, First Secretary and Consul General Raymond R. Balatbat, Welfare Officer Zenaida S. Ramos, and PAG-IBIG Representative Arlina D. Feliciano led an Embassy delegation that visited the Jerudong Prison Institution on 22 September 2010. The Embassy delegation brought Filipino food, cakes, pastries, and drinks which they shared with the Filipino inmates. Furthermore, Embassy personnel provided the Filipino inmates with personal hygiene items and obtained updates on their status, including expected dates of their release. Embassy officials expressed their gratitude to His Majesty's Government, Director of Prisons Dato Paduka Haji Ahmad bin Haji Dullah, and to the officers of the Jerudong Prison for the kind and humane treatment accorded to Filipino inmates. There are 9 Filipino inmates - 4 males and 5 females – presently detained at the Jerudong Prison for various offenses.
