Fil-Am Singer-Actress Lights Up Broadway in “Godspell” Revival PDF Print E-mail

Young Filipino-American talent Anna Maria Perez de Tagle paid a courtesy call on Consul General Mario L. De Leon, Jr. at the Philippine Center in New York on February 13.

Ms. Perez de Tagle, granddaughter of legendary Filipino actress and singer Sylvia La Torre, invited the Consul General to see a performance of "Godspell," the celebrated musical by Stephen Schwartz which opened on Broadway in November of last year.

She stars alongside other emerging talents such as film and television actor Hunter Parrish and sings the musical's signature song "Day by Day".

Ms. Perez de Tagle was in the cast of first and second Disney "Camp Rock" films and had a recurring role in the hit Disney show, "Hannah Montana".

She played the lead role of Joy Moy in 2009's "FAME" from MGM/Lakeshore Entertainment, and has opened for the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato in the popular acts' North and South American Tours.

The Filipino-American talent was accompanied during the call by her parents Evelyn and former television and film personality Archie Perez de Tagle and brother, King.

Consul General de Leon congratulated Ms. Perez de Tagle on her success and remarked that "she is a role model for many talented and aspiring Filipino performers to continue pursuing their artistic dreams".
