Pinoy (BP) in cooperation with the Filipino Association in Brunei (FAB) hosted a charity dinner, dubbed "A Dinner for a Cause", recently. The event was held at the Holiday Lodge and was attended by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Brunei, as well as other nationalities, who wanted to share their blessings to the less fortunate through the occasion. The proceeds raised during the event will be donated to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Brunei (http://www.pusatehsan.org.bn/) and Real Life Foundation in the Philippines (http://igivetolife.com/). Atty Ana Dione, the Labor Attache at the Philippine Embassy, graced the occasion and delivered the inspirational message from the Ambassador of the Philippines in Brunei, Nestor Z Ochoa. The ambassador extended his gratitude and congratulated Boundless Pinoy for organising such an activity. Furthermore, he encouraged everyone who attended the dinner to commit and do more for the benefit of the Filipinos not only here in Brunei but even back in the Philippines, those with little means for living. Also present, was the President of the Filipino Association in Brunei, Mrs Edel Bartholomew, who is very supportive of the young group. Dr Joey Santos, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, also expressed his appreciation to the organisers. Santos was really moved after watching the video presentations showing the life changing work that both Real Life and Pusat Ehsan extend.

As the founder of "Iskolar ni Inana Scholarship Programme", he is very happy to see young people with a commitment to help underprivileged but deserving students to reach their potential. In his own words, "We should give ourselves more". During the event, the guests were entertained by song numbers performed by Ms Cheenyca Ong, Mr Earvs Cabalquinto, and Dr Joey Castro. Door prizes were also given to fortunate supporters of the cause. The masters of ceremonies, John Gil Vher Parago and Ms Tim Cruz, thanked all the sponsors especially the management of the Holiday Lodge for their support and generosity. Vladimir Cardenas and David Santa Monica, the co-founders of Boundless Pinoy and main organisers of the event, were touched by the overwhelming support given by the OFW community. They became even more committed to reach out and help others. They aspire to empower Filipinos to achieve greatness through service. Boundless Pinoy is a newly formed organisation under the umbrella of the Filipino Association in Brunei. Its mission is to promote the holistic development of Filipinos in Brunei through character building and service. The members recently organised a Fun Trek at the Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park.

The goal of the trek was to spread the message that health and wellness can be achieved through an enjoyable community base approach. BP also sponsored a feeding programme for 150 needy children in the Philippines through Real Life Foundation. Service and compassion lie in the heart of BP. The group's motto sums it all up: "Bound to Serve, Bound for Greatness". --- Courtesy Of Borneo BulletinComments (0) |
