About 70 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who works in Brunei and other Nationalities joined the Fun Trek recently at the Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park with a theme; "Fight obesity, shed your sweat!". Before the event started, Dr. Joey Castro, an OFW and a Medical Doctor employed at the Ministry of Health gave the opening remarks and welcomed all the visitors and guests. On hand to give the briefing and orientation was Mr. David Santa Monica also an OFW and one of the founding members of Boundless Pinoy. Ross Frazier, an American who joined the event said that trekking Bukit Shahbandar was such a great and memorable experience for him because he loves the greenery of the equatorial rainforest compared to the desert that yo pass by on the way to Mexico. Bernie Johnson from South Africa also expressed her appreciation of organizing such an event that would certainly benefit all that is involved. She's and Do Hyung Park from South Korea who lives in Japan were the two to finish the trek after completing 9 hills. Mr Park added that outdoor activities is what he always wanted and that he also would do it again if given the chance. Eric Ebisu of Japanese descent who is an American citizen living in Hawaii said that the park is a reflection of the tropical rainforest that they have in Hawaii and felt so close to home. Rainier Aquino, an OFW here in Brunei and a Staff Nurse at the National Cancer Centre of Jerudong Park Medical Centre has been impressed by how the Government has preserved the park with its continuous development without even asking the public for an entrance fee. And lastly, Dr. Joey Santos, an OFW, a sponsor and who works in UBD expressed his congratulations to the organizing committee of how well they handled the event knowing that it's their first project as an organization. After the trek, gift vouchers, gift packs and cast gift were given to the participants. On hand to give the gifts was Vladimir Cardenas, an OFW who works in IT Company and also one of the founding members of Boundless Pinoy.
